One of three girls...
I was brought up in a non-Christian family, as the middle of three daughters.
My father’s mining career resulted in regular family relocations including living in small mining town in Swaziland, Africa, which meant boarding school. Being quite family oriented, this move was quite a significant step to independence for me personally.
Born into the Family of God ...
I became a born again Christian at the age of 16 while attending boarding school in South Africa, and enjoyed being involved in Youth Group activities.
Embracing the Christian walk early in life provided the opportunity to walk closely with the Lord and include Him in major decisions like choosing a husband; making career and study choices, and running a successful small business.
Roy and I have been adventurous choosing to move between continents – having relocated from South Africa to New Zealand initially, then later to Australia.
Colour filled my life ...
Having undertaken limited basic drawing classes as a child, I hadn’t really pursued artistic endeavours until many years later after settling on the Gold Coast where I decided to try my hand at creating meaningful art for display our walls at home. As colour and texture filled canvasses I gained a sense of fulfilment and wonder at the depth of God’s love, the utter generosity of Jesus Christ, and gentle companionship of the Holy Spirit.
Doing art has given me the opportunity to share my faith with friends and colleagues in a unique way that may not have been possible without art as the ‘neutral’ discussion point.
This journey has taken me into an increasing internal desire to ‘create’ with the Creator, with time spent ‘soaking’ in contemporary Christian music, receiving Grace teaching and contemplating Scriptures.
Often times, I feel led by the Holy Spirit with impressions and inspiration resulting in meaningful gems and nuances that find their way into art designs. These are intended to be ‘discovered’ as you spend time with the artwork I have had a hand in creating. In between full time work, my hobby has been transformed into a heartfelt passion with an art style that can be described as contemporary, realism, and abstracts.
Good News on a Wall
Operating under the art name of “All HE’art’ by Sonia Farrell” I co-labour with the Lord Jesus Christ to produce ‘art2bringglory2God’ with a defined Mission of putting ‘Good News on a Wall’*, I am excited and feel led to continue to share these artworks that point to Jesus and expand Believers’ personal understanding and appreciation of the wonderful Hope to which God has called us – that depict the richness of our inheritance through Christ Jesus, and God’s immeasurable power which is alive in us NOW**
I have seen the fingerprints of God on my life and experienced that He lovingly provides guidance in life-defining decisions and in the detail of our everyday life. As Christians, we can be ‘plugged in’ to a powerful life in Christ Jesus, fully enjoying our position as Sons or Daughters of God – blessed with God’s protection and favour, and prepared with our Brothers and Sisters as the ‘Bride of Christ’.
Foundation of the Word...
My life is fully grounded and based on the Word of God - the Bible... And this carries through with an intentional focus of doing Bible inspired artworks... two particularly meaningful Scriptures that capture the essence of why I do art are:
*Proverbs 4:21 - “My son, give attention to my words; Incline your ear to my sayings. Do not let them depart from your sight; Keep them in the midst of your heart.
**Ephesians 1:17- 20 - “17 I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spiritof wisdom and revelation, so that you may know Him better. 18 I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which He has called you, the riches of His glorious inheritance in His holy people, 19 and His incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength 20 He exerted when He raised Christ from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly realms
