WHEn and where are the art classes held for intake 2 in 2023?

Intake 2 info (Apr to Jun 2023) - Registrations are NOW OPEN. Closes Monday, 17 April, or when classes are fully booked.
Location 1: Nerang
When: Every Tuesday from 3.30pm to 5.30pm for 9 weeks starting 18 April 2023. This means there are art classes in Nerang on 18 Apr, (no class on 25 April as its a public holiday) 2 May, 9 May, 16 May, 23 May, 30 May, 6 Jun, 13 Jun and the last one on 20 June 2023.
Where: The classes are held in the Nerang Bicentennial Community Centre, 833 Southport Nerang Road, Nerang.
Location 2: Southport
When: Every Wednesday from 3.45pm to 5.45pm for 9 weeks starting 19 April 2023. This means there are art classes in Southport on 19 Apr, 26 Apr, 3 May, 10 May, 17 May, 24 May, 31 May, 7 Jun, and the last one on 14 June 2023.
Where: The classes are held at the Creative Hearts Art Gallery in Australia Fair, Level 1 Shop #1008 (near the Cinemas), 42 Marine Parade, Southport.
Location 3: Mudgeeraba
When: Every Thursday from 3.30pm to 5.30pm for 9 weeks starting 20 April 2023. This means there are art classes in Mudgeeraba on 20 Apr, 27 Apr. 4 May, 11 May, 18 May, 25 May, 1 Jun, 8 Jun, and the last one on 15 June 2023.
Where: The classes are held in the Activity Room of the Mudgeeraba Old Post Office, 57 Railway Street, Mudgeeraba
what is the cost?
$360 per student for the 9 (nine) art classes held on the specified dates mentioned above. Ad hoc attendance may be available on request - chat to Sonia about pricing and availability.
who would this art program suit?
Great for Beginner to Intermediate Level of Art Skill. These Afternoon Art Classes are for After School Art Classes, Hobby Artists wanting to build their confidence by gaining an understanding of art theory and practice, Those wanting to escape the trap of technology and spend time learning hands-on and face to face. Those wanting to spend time with other like-minded people and wanting to hone their art knowledge and build their painting and drawing ability using a range of mediums, Those who have painted before - returning to their passion as they take time out to pursue their interests. Others have used this opportunity to attend with their child and make special memories with them in this fun, creative environment.
How DO I REGISTER TO ATTEND/how do i register my child to attend?
A completed and returned Registration Form click to access link and Payment* of either:
a) the full class fee of $360 for the term, or
b) partial payment of the class fee (minimum 50% deposit required) - with balance due before the first class commences (payment is made via an invoice I issue and send to you once I receive your completed registration form).
Note: The registration is only valid on confirmation by Sonia Farrell, as there are limited seats – they will be allocated on a first come, first serve basis, although existing students are given the opportunity to re-enrol as a loyalty reward. New students are welcomed on a first come - first serve basis - taking into account completing the registration form and payment as mentioned above.
what is included?
Attendees will have access to art materials including paint: acrylics and watercolour, coloured pencils, graphite pencils, chalk and oil pastels, marker and gel pens, and charcoal. During the 9 sessions, attendees will also receive 2 canvases to use and showcase their art. Aprons available.
what do students bring?
Attendees are asked to bring along 2x Visual Art Diaries that are suitable to watercolour as well. At least one of these needs to be A3 size. These do not need to be new books, as long as there are at least 10 blank pages per book, that is fine :-)
what do students learn?
These are guided art lessons teaching students how to use graphite pencil, watercolours and acrylics while introducing them to and providing a forum for them to practice foundational art techniques such as Mark Making, Composition, Depth, Colour Theory, Proportion, Perspective, Drawing Techniques, Tones and Values, Shading. Personalised guidance and direction will be provided for each student during the class. Due to the content of the classes, it is recommended for all ages but for Children is best suited to Kids age 8 and older. what is sonia farrell's teaching style?
Sonia Farrell, the art teacher's teaching style is described as supportive, interactive and encouraging. Sonia says: “I believe everyone has some creativity in them, and to embrace it is a good thing. Learning fundamentals of art is a great way to enable and equip students to hone their skills, and ‘translate’ what they imagine and love onto an art surface”. Art is a great way to learn to think ‘outside the box’ and to build confidence and life skills". Sonia holds a ‘Working with Children’ Blue Card, has experience teaching art to children and adults all skill levels, and has been recommended on her teaching style and ability.
